Results come back from an accredited lab in 24 to 72 hours, with ERMI taking a few days longer.
The deliverable is the difference. Your assessor should name the accredited laboratory that ran the samples and hand you a written report rather than a verbal summary. Note also that in New York a mold-removal company cannot perform Article 32 testing on the job it wants to sell; a separate company does the testing.

When a Test Is Genuinely Worth Paying For
The CDC position is about health guidance, and it does not cover the reasons New Yorkers actually order tests. Four situations justify a licensed assessment:
- Establishing a landlord's liability. A lab report showing elevated indoor spores, paired with proof of a leak the landlord failed to fix, supports an HPD complaint or a habitability claim. Testing alone does not assign blame; the documented moisture source does.
